20 years ago, The Patterson hosted the premiere of The Screen Painters, the amazing doc on East Baltimore’s own folk art tradition. Since then it has won major awards, been seen around the world, sold thousands of copies and helped to revitalize our city’s unique but endangered urban art form. Take a look back at filmmaking and traditional rowhouse decor in the summer of 1988 when an energetic documentary crew met Baltimore’s vibrant screen painting community. Meet filmmakers and screen painters—your neighbors and friends for an evening of film and spirited reminiscence and conversation. CALL FOR DIGITAL VIDEO SUBMISSIONS

Peterson Management LC, BrainboxTV and Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center is currently accepting submissions for DOWNTOWNMEDIA: 29:59, an ongoing program of media art displayed on the pedestrian level video screens in the Downtown Silver Spring Center. Beginning July 1st, 2008, one minute video works will be broadcast 24/7 every half hour on the 29th and 59th minutes. Peterson Management LC, BrainboxTV and Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center will be accepting submissions from both emerging and established media artists or artist collectives. Artists or artist collectives may submit up to four works. Preference will be given to works that respond to the site and its position in a high traffic (pedestrians) public location. Two artists will be featured each month. Artists whose works are selected will receive an award of $100 redeemable at any Downtown Silver Spring Center Merchant. Judging & Awards: Professional from the Washington area media arts community will serve as part of the review committee. Reproduction Agreement. Unless otherwise requested, submissions selected for screening grant the Peterson Management LC and Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center the rights to use moving image excerpts, production stills, and information from the work for promotional purposes in the Downtown Silver Spring Center. Participation in the Call for Submissions implies acceptance of the Reproduction Agreement. Submissions must be on a DVD and the running time for each work cannot exceed 60 seconds. The DVD should be labeled with your name, title of the piece, date, and running time. Please include a printed description detailing what we will see on the video. The video must be cued, and the jury will view it for five minutes from that point. Each submission must also include a publishable artist's statement of no more than 400 words and a CD-ROM with a high-resolution (300 dpi TIFF) still image from the video, for publication in promotional materials. Submissions will not be returned unless otherwise requested. In order to have your work returned, please include a stamped, self addressed envelope. Selections will be announced by July 1st, 2008. FILM FESTIVAL MANAGER WANTED

Film Festival Manager Wanted: The American Conservation Film Festival (ACFF) in Shepherdstown WV seeks a part-time (25 hours/week) festival manager to work closely with the volunteer Board of Directors to develop and promote the festival. Tasks include coordinating efforts in all aspects of festival management, including proactively soliciting and handling film submissions, marketing events and the festival, promoting and staffing the Traveling Festival, assisting with fundraising, maintaining the website, and overseeing activities of administrative assistant. This is a professional position with substantial opportunity for growth as the manager successfully develops the festival, increases revenue, and expands ACFF’s reach. Qualifications: Successful candidates should have at least a Bachelor’s degree in arts management, conservation, or related field and at least 3 years professional experience. Strong verbal and oral communication skills a must, including proven experience in outreach and promotion. Familiarity with and experience in the film industry a strong plus, including ability to handle the technical aspects of processing film submissions. This position requires strong coordination and interpersonal skills to work closely with the President to coordinate the activities of Board committees and the administrative assistant. TEACHERS SOUGHT FOR VISUAL, LITERARY & PERFORMING ARTS SUMMER CAM

The Howard County Center for the Arts (HCCA), a 27,000 square foot multidisciplinary arts center in Ellicott City, Maryland, operated by the Howard County Arts Council and maintained by Howard County, announces a call for proposals for visual, literary and performing arts summer camps. Proposals are sought for Summer Camps offered for ages 4-14, in three hour camps (9:00AM-12:00PM and 12:30-3:30PM Monday to Friday) during the following sessions: June Mini Session, June 23-27, Session I July 7-18, Session II July 21-August 1, Session III August 4-15. To submit a summer camp proposal for consideration, teachers should send a detailed proposal including description of proposed class, participants’ age range, camp session or sessions, scope of projects and materials needed, current resume, three references from prior teaching experiences. Deadline for proposals is January 18, 2008. Teachers are employed on a contract basis. Teaching positions are limited and selection will be made by the HCCA staff. UMMARY:
The Director of Development for RLTV will handle development assignments in all genres and work with Programming on the purchase of potential acquisitions. This position requires communication and coordination with independent producers, external production companies as well as internal departments, including Production, Programming, Production Management, Legal and Business Affairs, Finance, Online, Marketing, Advertising and Promotion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and maintain relationships with LA, NY and Washington, DC production community and independent producers; solicit submissions from prospective producers. Build new relationships with potential international and domestic partners.
2. Supervise editorial management over multiple outside production companies on numerous series/specials simultaneously and in coordination with internal departments to ensure timely and on-budget development, production and delivery of commissions, co-productions, acquisitions and development projects.
3. Create and conceptualize series, specials, franchises, properties, and other programming initiatives. Research and develop programming ideas including writing requests for proposals and developing internally generated ideas.
4. Coordinate with Business Affairs to option properties, represent network investment ranges, rights, approvals and expectations for project.
5. Attend Markets and Festivals as requested with a special emphasis on seeking out new producers, projects and partners.
6. Coordinate with talent relations to secure hosts, new talent, experts and exclusivity deals.
7. Clearly communicate editorial requirements and standards of quality to outside production companies during earliest stages of development and pre-production.
QUALIFICATIONS:
*Broad knowledge of studio, multi-camera remote and single camera field production and postproduction is essential.
*Experience in a wide variety of program genres (e.g. entertainment, documentary, reality, drama, informational, etc.).
* Superb written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects in varying stages.
* Employ skills pertaining to the development/refining of editorial content and scripting.
* Strong knowledge of production community with established agent relationships
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
At least 7 - 10 years experience in the broadcast or cable industry as a producer, executive in charge of production, or head of development.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
